52 FRIDAY PHOTO CHALLENGE 07.22.11 | mississippi photographer

Week 28 of 52 on Friday project. Last week’s post for this project can be found here: 52 on Friday | Week 27, SUMMER. A group of 19 other photographers and I have joined together to challenge each other on a theme every week. Every post will list a link to another photographer’s blog every week, so you can see everyone’s interpretation. This week’s theme is FRUIT.

Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable? Scientifically speaking, a tomato is definitely a fruit…

I can remember Wendell’s papaw having the largest tomato garden that I have ever seen. 2 looooong rows… as far as the eye could see… Mr. Woody was able to give away 5 gallon buckets full of tomatoes to just about everyone in the community. So to say that Wendell was raised to raise tomatoes is an understatement. His garden does not even compare to what Mr. Woody had (maybe when he retires) but he does not play around.

I look forward to the first batch of Fried Green Tomatoes every year. It is definitely one of my favorites. Don’t tell Wendell that I eat them for lunch more often than he knows:)

And we have already put up 28 quarts of them to be used in chili, soup, and spaghetti sauce through the winter!!

What fun memories you have. I love garden tomatoes, they are amazing! And I am sad to say I moved away from the south never having a fried green tomato, one day I will just have to do that!
